Why we chose it

We added this to the shop because we are not immune to a bit of absurdity, and because Seven is not immune to a good squeaker. The cigarette shape is daft — the sort of thing that makes visitors do a double-take — but the mechanics are sound. It squeaks when bitten, it holds up to being carried around, and it washes clean when it's been through enough.Most importantly, Seven actually sleeps with it. Not just plays with it, not just abandons it under the sofa, but takes it to her bed at night and settles down with it like a pillow. That transition from toy to bedtime companion is the difference between something they'll tolerate and something they'll love.

Keke is not a squeaky-toy person. She is a cat of refined tastes and limited patience for canine enthusiasms. However, she has found this long, soft object useful in one specific way: she rests against it. Not plays with it, not carries it, but occasionally positions herself alongside it for a nap, using it as a bolster. It is not her toy. It is simply a warm, cylindrical thing that happens to be in the right place at the right time. For Keke, that is enough.

But I will say there's something genuinely funny about watching a Golden Retriever proudly carry a giant cigarette from room to room. It ended up being one of those things that makes me smile every time I see it, which is worth more than I expected."
