Some toys you play with. Some toys you simply rest upon.

£12.89
This is a straightforward sort of toy — a solid, dumbbell-shaped thing with a bit of weight to it, a hidden squeaker, and enough colour to catch a curious eye. It doesn't promise to change your pet's life. It simply exists in the room, waiting to be chewed, carried, or, in certain cases, used as an impromptu pillow.
It fits into the quiet corners of pet ownership: the afternoons when you need them occupied, the evenings when they need something to mouth while you read, and the nights when they decide it's actually rather comfortable to sleep on.

We added this to the shop because we were tired of toys that looked promising and fell apart by Wednesday. Seven is not a gentle reviewer — she is a Golden Retriever with a mission — and we wanted something that could survive her enthusiasm without requiring us to hover with a bin bag.The shape is simple but effective. The ends are thick enough to grip, the middle is satisfying to clamp between jaws, and the squeaker gives just enough feedback to keep things interesting. It is not clever. It is not complicated. It is simply well-made, which turns out to be rarer than you'd think.

The K&S Test

Keke:

Keke is not a toy person. She is a comfort person. She has looked at this dumbbell, assessed its play potential, and found it wanting. However, she has also discovered that it makes a surprisingly decent headrest on the rug. She does not play with it. She appropriates it. That is, in its own way, a form of approval.

Seven:

Seven's approach is less philosophical and more physical. She picks it up. She squeaks it. She carries it from room to room with the satisfaction of someone who has found a thing that responds to her. It has survived her jaws for a respectable stretch of time, which places it in the upper tier of her collection. She does not discriminate much between toys, but she does return to this one with notable frequency.

From Yan & Nicole

From Yan

"I bought this hoping Keke might take an interest, but she's largely ignored it as a toy. What I didn't expect was finding her asleep on it one afternoon, using it like a little bolster pillow. It's become hers in a way I hadn't anticipated — not as entertainment, but as furniture. I suppose that's still a win, just not the one I had in mind."

From Nicole

"Seven likes most toys, so I wasn't sure this one would stand out. What I noticed was how often she actually chooses it over the others. I think the colours help — it catches the light differently depending on where it lands, and she seems to spot it more easily than the plainer ones. It's also held up better than I expected. After a few weeks of serious chewing, it's still intact, which in our house is genuinely impressive."

✓ Good fit for
  • Dogs who enjoy squeaky, durable chew toys
  • Pets who like to carry toys around the house
  • Owners looking for something that can withstand regular, enthusiastic use
  • Dogs who respond well to bright, multi-coloured objects
✗ May not be for
  • Cats who prefer smaller, lighter toys (Keke uses it as a pillow at best)
  • Pets who are indifferent to squeakers or solid shapes
  • Very small dogs or puppies who may find the weight and size cumbersome
