This is a costume that turns your pet into something they are definitely not: a large, hairy spider with red eyes and far too many legs. It sits on their back like a small, fuzzy saddle, fastened with Velcro, while the legs splay out around them in every direction. It is absurd. It is also, somehow, rather effective.
It fits into the one night of the year when you are expected to be ridiculous with your pet. You open the door to trick-or-treaters, and there is your dog or cat, wearing a creature on their back, looking either dignified or deeply unimpressed. Either way, the photograph is worth it.

Why we chose it

We added this to the shop because we believe Halloween costumes should be fun for the human and tolerable for the pet. Too many outfits are heavy, stiff, or constructed without any thought for the animal underneath. This one is light — the felt base holds its shape without weighing them down, and the Velcro straps mean you can adjust it to fit properly without a struggle.The spider legs are properly dramatic — long, hairy, and faintly alarming from a distance. But the construction is soft enough that your pet can still move, sit, and generally exist without feeling like they're carrying furniture. It's the right kind of silly: memorable for you, manageable for them.

Keke is a cat who has, through no fault of her own, become a spider. She wears the costume with the lightness it deserves — it does not burden her, does not restrict her movement, and she moves through the house with her usual poise, now accompanied by eight additional legs that she does not acknowledge. She looks, as Yan observes, remarkably like a large spider. She does not seem to mind this. She is simply Keke, with accessories.

Seven:

Seven wears this costume with the same good-natured acceptance she brings to most things. It is light, it does not constrain her, and she is able to move freely despite the dramatic appendages sprouting from her back. She does not appear to notice the legs, or if she does, she has decided they are not her concern. She is a Golden Retriever. She has bigger things to think about. The costume stays on, she stays happy, and the evening proceeds without incident.
