Why we chose it

We brought this into the shop because we are not above a bit of ceremony. Keke has her dignified days. Seven has her moments of stillness, however brief. And we wanted something that acknowledged those occasions without pretending they happen every Tuesday.The cake design is ridiculous in the right way — soft, light, and detailed enough to look charming in a photograph without weighing heavily on a small head. The elastic strap adjusts to fit, and the felt construction means no hard edges digging in. It is not for the dog who refuses all adornment. Keke is a cat who understands occasion. She does not dress up for the postman. But on the days that matter — a birthday, a gotcha-day, a moment worth marking — she will permit the small cake hat. She wears it with the expression of someone who knows she looks rather good in it, which she does. The strap holds. She sits. The photo is taken.
